A professional freelance writer doesn’t just love words

Working with words is just part of what I do – and love. Finding the right voice and tone to connect clients with their audience is another big part of the fun – along with researching, immersing myself in your product or service, learning the ins and outs of your industry and the ups and downs of your market too.

I’ve been at it for more than a decade now. Writing website content, blogs, marketing brochures or email series that reach my audience and prompt them to action, lights my fire.

In short, I’m a word-nerd. But I think the best writers have seen a little of life – so I made sure I did too.
I took the long way around to find a career that fits best. I’ve worked in the not-for-profit sector, the railways, university procurement teams and more.

I studied for my Marketing Diploma at Manakau Polytechnic in New Zealand and Stotts Correspondence College in Australia. I collected certifications from Hastings Arts and Technology College in Multimedia and Hubspot in Inbound Marketing.

My writing skills were honed in the evening with the Writer’s Bureau and one to one tutoring with professional non-fiction writers while working as a 9-5 desk jockey. When my writing was accepted in publications like Soul and Spirit and by international charities like The International Women’s Initiative, I knuckled down, studied some more, and began accepting small writing jobs on the side.

The experience I’ve had in a range of industries and roles – sales, communications and customers services – along with my training as a writer has helped me connect with audiences across the globe. From Australia to America and here in the UK, I’ve crafted content that excites, engages and influences my reader while elevating my client from ho-hum to loved.

I’d love to do the same for you. You can see more of my work in my blog, my portfolio, or simply get in touch to chat about what you need.
